BASC Course in Grey Squirrel Control.

Audrey Watson from the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) is running a course in  grey squirrel control near Llandovery on 10th December from 10.30am – 2pm.  There are 5 places available on this free course.  If you, or anyone that you know is interested in attending, please comment on this post and we will forward your message to Becky Hulme.

Course content:

The morning comprises of 2 presentations:

  • the ecology and interaction between reds and grey squirrels and why we need to control greys
  • dispatch using both methods: cranial dispatch (sack and stick) and shooting, including a Firearms Awareness section on the law surrounding use of air weapons, how to use air weapons to despatch and things to consider.

The afternoon session is out in the field, showing how to set traps, including a demo on how to cranially dispatch.
