Ysgol Cil-y-cwm: the future of the school

Once it became known that Cilycwm School was in the process of closing, a working group was formed to assess the possibility of the School and School House buildings becoming a community facility for the residents of Cilycwm and the surrounding district.

This working group consists of:  Thelma Stenning, Dick Turner and Fay Wielowchowska from the Cilycwm Community Association;  Aled Edwards and Moira Davies members of the Cilycwm Community Council;  and Sarah Herbert-Jones, who was one of a group involved in an earlier community facility project.

To avoid missing this potential opportunity, the working group has registered its’ interest, on behalf of the residents of Cilycwm, with the parties involved in the future of the Cilycwm School site.

There will be an ‘Open Public Meeting’ held on Monday evening the 5th May, 2014, at the School, to discuss the proposal for a community hall for Cilycwm and the surrounding district.  One question, in particular, will ask if residents support the proposal to pursue, with grant aid, the School site to develop a ‘fit for purpose’ community facility.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, a ‘suggestion box’ will be available during the Spring Festival in St. Michael’s Church, or you can e mail you comments via the website.
