Welcome to the new look Cilycwm website.
As of January 2012 this is very much work in progress and needs a fair bit of information, some new articles, and lots of feedback before we can be confident that it truly represents the community.
Until recently we had no viable broadband service, but now the people who live here can easily contribute to the website as well as our visitors, ex-pats and the online community in general.
Not only will it look different, but it will work in a different way, more like facebook or a blog and less like a static source of information.
The information is still here – all the fascinating history and stories about our area – but we’ve made it easier to access by archiving some of the less topical material and giving pointers to help you find what you are interested in.
There will also be a lot more current news and gossip, and you will be invited to join us by sending us your comments and replying to other comments. There will also be links to the social network sites.
Ydych chi’n siarad Cymraeg?
We want to hear from you. To get the site under way we used Enlgish, but we don’t intend that it should remain in English only. How though, in 2012, do we do justice to the language of Wales in a way that is meaningful and which truly represents the wishes of the community? Should some pages be in Welsh only? Should we at least try to translate all the English content into Welsh, or should some pages be in English only? If we have a “chose your language” button as the first thing you see on the home page, what should the “Cymraeg” button lead us to?
These are all difficult questions, so please send us your views.
The website is really good, it’s user friendly.
I think either everything to be bi-lingual or have a button for Cymraeg and whatever is in English do the same on the Welsh pages
