Capel Gosen, Cynghordy – Organ Music

Saturday 18th November at 2.30pm Organ Music of all sorts  played on the two Chapel organs (Theatre and Church) with Nigel Davies FRCO,  followed by refreshments in the vestry.

No charge, but donations in aid of St Mary’s Church, Cynghordy.

Capel Gosen

This fine building dates from 1844 and was a locally important part of the Great Welsh Revival of 1859. Gosen served the local community for many years hosting Eistedfoddi, Gymanfa Ganu, and meetings of many different kinds as well as being a centre of worship for the Calvinistic Methodists.

Sadly, by 2010 the building closed as a working chapel, and lay empty until it was bought by Barbie and Nigel Davies in 2014. At last the building is water-tight and in use once more. Already we have had an opening event in October 2016, followed by Dursley Parish Church choir’s annual dinner (with Choral Evensong), a much-enjoyed visit from the Llandovery Male Voice Choir in May 2017 and an afternoon of light choral classics from “Razor Sharp” (a Bristol-based singing group) in August 2017.

All events are free, but any donations kindly given will go to support local and national charities. There are no “expenses” as all the performers give freely of their skills.
