If so, a new initiative in Carmarthenshire might interest you. The Carmarthenshire Meadows Group has been launched at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Its aim is to inspire the creation of a county-wide community that supports each other to improve the diversity of plants, fungi and animals on meadows, large or small, across Carmarthenshire.

There is no funding available but the following is being planned:

  • training events in various meadow management techniques,
  • site visits to meadows,
  • a directory of useful information,
  • a Meadows Group web page,
  • the chance to work with an ecologist to discuss the management of your meadows.

Why not join the Group and be inspired to work with others across the county to help restore the floral and faunal splendour of your own patch of Welsh countryside.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Meadows Group, then please contact Carmarthenshire’s Biodiversity Officer Isabel Macho – imacho at carmarthenshire.gov.uk or ring 01558 825390.
