Red Squirrel Project – events

Dear Red Squirrel enthusiasts,

We have dates set for both a drop-in session for the Trap Loan Scheme and free training in grey squirrel control to the west of the project area. Please see attached posters to promote both events.  The project is also running an information stand at the Co-operative Store in Llandovery on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th February from 11am to 5pm. If any of you would like to help out with spreading the word and could spend a few hours giving information on red squirrel conservation to customers, this would be much appreciated,  please do get in touch.

The Trap Loan Scheme Drop-in session will take place at Llanfair Village Hall on Saturday 7th March from 11am to 3pm.  Pop in for a cuppa and cake and  find out about grey squirrel control and how you can get involved in the Trap Loan Scheme and help the local red squirrel population to recover.  On hand will be 3 Local Co-ordinators for the Trap Loan Scheme who between them cover the Tregaron, Llanddewi, Llanfair, Cellan and Cwmann areas.  If you intend to trap for grey squirrels in the red squirrel focal area, all equipment loaned and bait is free of charge!

The training in grey squirrel control techniques will take place at Long Wood, Llanfair on Saturday 14th March from 2 -4 pm.  The training is free of charge, but places need to be booked in advance, as there is a maximum number of people per course; we will hold further training courses if there is a demand. The last course that we ran at Long Wood was very popular, so please get back to me to book your place.

 With regards, Becky
