Little did I know when I spent Saturday night at Machynlleth on a brief camper van trip that Matt was one of the muddy cyclists I had seen earlier returning from the “Dyfi Enduro”. What they do seems impossible to me but they still seemed to have plenty of energy for partying, judging by the crowd at their disco tent. Not Matt though: imagine getting to the end of such an arduous course, only to be told that his father was dangerously ill with cancer. The circumstances of how he went on to complete the infinitely more challenging Welsh Coast to Coast ride show, I believe, great strength of character. This is his story:
